Benefits of Invisalign

Invisible Aligners

Straighten your teeth without unsightly orthodontic braces and metal wires. Invisalign uses almost invisible clear aligners that will not be noticeable to others. So you won’t have to feel self-conscious about smiling and talking with during treatment. This is one of the most popular features of Invisalign treatment.

Comfortable to wear

Invisalign treatment is really easy and comfortable. You simply wear the aligners and that’s it. There’s never the risk of wires and brackets poking on your gums, lips and cheeks causing cuts or ulcers. Some mild discomfort is normal in the first few days after wearing a new aligner

Removable Aligners

There are several benefits of removable aligners. When eating and drinking, the aligners can be simply removed and then worn again after finished. It is also a lot easier to maintain good oral hygiene. Brushing and flossing of teeth can be carried out as you normally do without the hassle of things getting stuck on the metal wires.

Less Appointments

With conventional metal braces, the wires need to be tightened every 4-6 weeks. With Invisalign, given that the treatment can be mapped out from the start, you can get given multiple aligners at the same time, meaning fewer visits to the dentist.

Visualise the results

Invisalign’s innovative technology allows you to see the end result before you begin treatment.

Proven Results

6 Million Invisalign patients worldwide and counting. It is highly customisable with predictable results.

Crossbite: A crossbite is when one or more of your upper teeth are behind the lower teeth. This is not a natural position of your teeth and can cause tooth wear, bone loss around the misaligned tooth and localised gum problems.

Gapped teeth: Gaps between your front teeth can be unsightly as they are visible when speaking and smiling.

Deep Bite: A deep bite may irritate the gums that contact the teeth and cause more wear on the lower teeth. This may be associated with TMJ problems.

Invisalign for gapped teeth correction

Crowded teeth: Crowded teeth can make people self-conscious about the appearance of their teeth. The severity of crowding can also worsen over time. Crowded teeth are often trickier to clean, with an increased amount of staining and tartar a common occurrence with crowded teeth.

Open bite: An open bite often negatively impacts your ability to chew adequately, and can cause speech impairment. There is also a greater risk of TMJ problems as a result of the open bite.

Invisalign Treatment Process

Your treatment will begin with a dental examination and an orthodontic consultation to ensure that you are the right candidate for Invisalign treatment. A dental and medical history will be taken.

Based on your needs, the dentist will then formulate a treatment plan to achieve your desired result if suitable.

  • The first step in straightening your teeth with Invisalign is to take photographs and teeth impressions will then be sent to the laboratory.

  • Invisalign computer imaging technology is used to produce a unique treatment plan for your teeth. This technology together with the moulds of your teeth is used to make customised clear braces with precision cutting edge technology. The first set of aligners are normally fitted with the aid of the dentist.

  • Throughout the treatment, a series of customised aligners are made. These aligners are a snug fit for your teeth, resulting in a steady movement that straightens your teeth gradually until the perfect smile is achieved.

  • The aligners are then changed every 2 weeks. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week until we reach the desired position for your teeth.

  • Treatment length will vary according to the complexity of your teeth misalignment. Your dentist will provide you with an estimate of treatment length when formulating your treatment plan. Typically, treatment lasts between 6 to 15 months.

  • Your dentist will review your progress every 4-6 weeks to ensure everything is on track and to make any corrections if necessary.

Invisalign treatment FAQs

How much does it cost for Invisalign treatment?

Although this is dependent on what treatment is required, the typical price range on Invisalign treatment is starting from £2200 per arch. Also 0% interest finance option is available for Invisalign, spreading the cost into affordable monthly payments.

What are Invisalign braces made of?

The Invisalign clear braces are made from transparent plastic trays that are digitally printed.

Can Invisalign affect my speech?

For the large majority of patients, their speech will not be affected. If there is some change to your speech, the difference is small, and your tongue quickly adapts, and speech returns to normal. This usually takes 7 to 10 days.

What should I do if I lose my aligners?

Contact your dentist straight away. Your dentist will be able to assist you in getting a replacement aligner so that treatment can continue without delay.

Will I need to have attachments on my teeth?

This depends on the individual undergoing the treatment and the complexity of the case. Attachments are small tooth-coloured buttons that are fixed to the teeth which assist in teeth movement. For some Invisalign treatments, attachments will be required. These are removed after completion.

How do I clean my aligners?

Your aligners should be cleaned using a vruch and lukewarm water every day. Remove before eating, and bruch/floss your teeth before re-seating your aligners. A daily fluoride mouthwash would also be beneficial to maintain excellent hygiene.

Will I have to continue wearing retainers after the treatment?

Yes, retainers will be needed after treatment is complete after treatment to ensure relapse does not occur and your teeth do not move out of their new positions. There are other options available too that you may discuss with your dentist.

How long does it take to straighten your teeth with Invisalign?

This depends on the severity and complexity of the problem that needs to be resolved. Minor defects typically take 3-6 months to complete. More complex cases can take up to 15 months for completion.

Is Invisalign as good as regular braces?

In highly complex cases, dental braces are the only suitable orthodontic solution. It is important to carry out an assessment and discuss with your dentist if your problem can be best resolved with Invisalign.

How painful is Invisalign?

It would be misleading to claim that Invisalign does not cause any discomfort at all. Any treatment that aims to move teeth will require to place a certain amount of pressure on teeth to achieve that movement. That pressure can result in some pain and discomfort. This is also the case with Invisalign, however, it is often for just a few days after placing a new set of aligners.

Can Invisalign treatment fix gaps?

In most likelihood, the answer will be yes. However, your gapped teeth will need to be assessed to ascertain if Invisalign is the most suitable option to achieve your desired result.

We advise removing the aligners when eating and drinking. Then brush your teeth after eating and wear the aligners again.

How long does it take for Invisalign to stop hurting?

There is usually some discomfort for 2-3 days after a new aligner is worn.

Can I wear my Invisalign only at night?

For best results, Invisalign aligners should be worn no less than 22 hours per day. Therefore, we would not recommend only wearing Invisalign aligners at night.

Can Invisalign loosen teeth?

Both traditional braces and Invisalign aligners move the visible tooth above the gum and the root uner the gum. In the first 1-2 days after new aligners are worn, it is very normal for the teeth to feel a bit looser than normal. It is the normal pattern of teeth movement and happens with normal braces as well.

How many hours a day do you have to wear Invisalign?

We advise wearing Invisalign aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day. Aim to have them worn at all times, and just remove them when eating and drinking.

Can Invisalign close large gaps?

It is almost certain that Invisalign can help to close big gaps. It may be that Invisalign alone will not be sufficient to close the gap completely, and veneers or composite bonding will also be rquired to achieve the desired result.

Do you sleep with Invisalign in?

Yes, for best results the aligners are worn a minimum of 22 hours a day so you will need to wear them during sleep.

What happens if you don't wear Invisalign for a day or longer?

You may find that the aligners are tighter when you wear them again. If they fit but are just a bit tight, then you should be ok to continue. If you do not wear them as prescribed an then they do not fit back onto your teeth, you will need to visit your dentist and have new aligners made. Please note that there would be an additional charge to make these aligners.

What drinks can I have with my Invisalign aligners in?

The only drink that is acceptable to have whilst you are wearing your aligners is cold water. Alcohol and caffeinated drinks can easily stain the aligners, and hot drinks my warp the aligner and change its change which affects the results. If for example, you'd like to have a coffee, we would advise you to remove the aligners, then gently bruch your teeth after you've completed and then wear the aligners again.
