From your first consultation to your final crown, here is exactly what the dental implant journey looks like at Wandsworth Dental Centre.
Most people are surprised by how methodical, predictable and unrushed the process is. Each step has a clear purpose, and you'll always know what's coming next.
The 8 steps of implant treatment
A typical journey for a single implant or small bridge. Same-day full-arch treatment compresses some of these steps into one visit.
Consultation and 3D scan
We listen to what you want, examine your mouth and take a CBCT (3D X-ray). This shows your bone, nerves and sinuses, and lets us plan implants with millimetre precision.
Treatment plan and finance
You receive a written plan with timings, costs and finance options. Treatment is available from £54 per month, subject to approval. No pressure — take the plan home if you want.
Any preparation work
If a tooth needs removing or the bone needs a small graft to support an implant, we do this first. Sometimes the implant can go in on the same day as the extraction.
Implant placement
Under local anaesthetic (and sedation if you'd like), the implant is gently placed into the jawbone. The appointment is usually shorter than people expect — most go straight back to normal activities the next day.
Healing and integration
Over the next 3–6 months, the implant fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration. You wear a temporary tooth or denture during this time so the gap is never visible.
Abutment and impressions
Once integrated, a small connector (abutment) is fitted and digital impressions are taken so your final tooth can be made to match the rest of your smile.
Final crown, bridge or denture fit
Your custom-made tooth or teeth are fitted onto the implant. It looks and feels like a natural tooth — and you can use it normally straight away.
Long-term care
Regular brushing, interdental cleaning and hygiene visits keep implants healthy for many years. We see you for routine check-ups just like natural teeth.

How long does the whole process take?
For a straightforward single implant, most patients complete treatment in 3–6 months. The chair time is usually only a few hours in total — the rest is healing time at home.
For same-day full-arch cases, you leave with fixed temporary teeth on the day of surgery and return for the final bridge a few months later.
Start with a consultation
Every implant journey starts the same way — a friendly chat, a proper look at your mouth and an honest plan. Treatment from £54 per month.
